Batman Shooting Stuns The World
A candlelit vigil has been held in the aftermath of the Denver shooting that claimed the lives of 12 people.
Gunman James Holmes, 24, was dressed in a gas mask and body armour when he burst into a midnight screening of the Dark Night Rises, the latest instalment in the Batman series. He then opened fire on the crowd killing 12 and wounding 58 including children.
Holmes was reportedly armed with a rifle, a shotgun and two pistols. Questions remain over the motive of the attack with authorities finding no links to terrorism or no past convictions.
James Holmes was arrested by police outside the cinema.
Minsters To Meet Farmers Over Milk Prices
Protests over prices paid supermarkets to milk suppliers have prompted the government to meet dairy farmers in an attempt to resolve the issue.
The proposed cuts of up to 2p a litre have angered farmers. The protest group Farmers For Action (FFA) have warned that the cuts, in addition to rising feed costs, could force hundreds of dairy farmers out of business.
The Co-operative and Morrisons supermarkets have responded to the protests by raising the premiums paid to farmers.
The British Retail Consortium (BRC) says that supermarkets are the wrong targets for the campaign and that the pressure should be on other big buyers of milk.
Syrian Fighting Extends to Aleppo
The latest clash between the Syrian rebels and government troops is taking place in the historic northern town of Aleppo.
The Free Syrian Army (FSA) have made major inroads into the Assad regime killing four government officials in a bomb attack on the National Security building.
There are reports that the FSA has penetrated deep into the city and has even set up some checkpoints.
Efforts to resolve the crisis have been largely unsuccessful as Iran, Russia and Chine support the Assad regime.
Lord Lawson Calls For Chancellor To Focus On His Job

Lord Lawson has told George Osborne to focus on his job as Chancellor and give up his role as the Conservatives’ main strategist.
The former Chancellor is one of Mr Osborne’s political heroes, but in an interview with the BBC Lord Lawson urged the current Chancellor to spend more time on running the economy.
Currently Mr Osborne is the Tories’ arch strategist chairing the daily 4pm strategy meeting at Downing Street.
Wiggins Set To Make Sporting History
Bradley Wiggins is on course to become the first British cyclist to win the Tour de France in its 109 year history.
The race concludes on Sunday where the cyclists approach the finish line in Paris.
